EXPLORE THE MEDINA

The city owes its original splendour to the Almoravide and Almohade dynasties (11th - 13th centuries), who made Marrakech into their capital. The Medina has several architectural and artistic masterpieces from different periods in history. The medina also has great roof top restaurants, many cool cafes and every sort of shopping you can imagine!

The medina is a wonderful place to explore. You can start in the main square of Jemma el-Fnaa that looks onto the Koutoubia Mosque built in 1158 and stands 77 meters high. The Medersa Ben Youssef and Saadian Tombs have incredible architecture and are renowned for their mosaic work. The Bahia Palace and Badi Palace are also both in the medina.
